Course: Drinks

Equipment

  • Quality auto-drip coffee maker (with a drip basket, carafe, water reservoir)
  • Paper filter (size depends on your machine) or a clean reusable filter
  • Coffee grinder (preferably burr grinder) if you’re using whole beans
  • Digital scale to weigh your beans and water
  • Timer or the timer function on your phone
  • Kettle (if your machine doesn’t heat water from scratch)
  • Mug or carafe to serve your coffee

Ingredients

  • Freshly roasted whole-bean coffee from BrewedWithin (or pre-ground if you prefer)
  • Filtered or good-quality tap water (since water quality affects taste)
  • Paper filters (or reusable filter if your machine supports it)

Instructions

  • Pre-Work and Setup - Clean your coffee maker, place and rinse the filter to remove paper taste, warm the carafe, and discard rinse water.
  • Measure and Grind - Weigh 29 g of beans for 500 ml water, grind to medium-coarse to ensure smooth flow and balanced extraction.
  • Load the Filter Basket - Add ground coffee to the basket and gently level for even water distribution.
  • Fill and Start Brewing - Pour filtered water into the reservoir, use the carafe or jug carefully, then press “Start” to brew.
  • Brewing and Monitoring - Let the machine brew for 4–6 minutes; adjust grind or ratio next time if brew speed varies.
  • Serve and Enjoy - Remove the carafe, pour coffee, adjust strength with water if needed, and enjoy the balanced flavor.
  • Clean Up - Discard used grounds, rinse all parts, clean weekly to remove build-up, and dry before storing.

Notes

Recommended Ratios & Settings
Coffee-to-water ratio: ≈ 1 : 17 (that means about 1 g coffee for every 17 g water) for a clean, balanced cup.Grind size: Medium-coarse (somewhere between standard drip and coarse) is ideal.Brew time: Typically 4-6 minutes from start to finish for a full pot.
These numbers give a good starting point — you can adjust for strength or volume as you go.
